If Aamir Khan is acclaimed as ‘Mr. Perfectionist’, it’s not for his screen presence, but for his involvement in various arenas of production department. Have we ever seen an actor affording to work on film’s subtitle, which is none of his business? So was Aamir Khan as he took special care over this process for ‘3 Idiots’. Every project is his sweet child and he doesn’t miss any spaces to promote them. What do you expect then when it’s very own film with his wife Kiran Rao wielding the megaphone?

Aamir Khan’s recent release ‘Dhobi Ghat’ is doing moderate business in box office. Though the film isn’t an mainstream genre, Mr. Perfectionist was there into it to experiment something new. But at the same time he didn’t make a mess by releasing it in more screens worldwide and planned for big strategy of promotions.

Aamir Khan previously had even walked into Lady’s toilet to glue the posters of ‘3 Idiots’. But this time, he limited himself by not exaggerating the project. Say for instance, the film was released at limited screens around 325 and had a net collection of Rs.10Crores during opening week (Excluding Karnataka regions since the film wasn’t screened due to strike).

‘Dhobi Ghat’ is produced at the cost of Rs.5Crores with Rs.2-3 Crores spent on promotional campaigns. Guess what? As reported by trade analysts, the first week collections from 325Crores has been Rs. 10.05Crores. Meanwhile, the satellite rights and Home Video rights are likely to be sold for a bigger price.

Finally, Aamir Khan has become winner yet again. Despites the film receiving mixed review amongst the audiences, the opening he has got has yielded him best results. But what his fans want him to do is that to avoid art house films and come up with mainstream movies.
