Devi Sri Prasad’s previously worked with Kamal Haasan-K.S. Ravikumar for the film ‘Dasavatharam’ for the background score. This time, he gets a finest opportunity to strike chords with the same team. Kamal Haasan’s lyrical lines are the greatest highlights as he touches various vistas through the songs. One of the poetic lyrics as a rendition between Kamal Haasan and Trisha has some bold lines, yet appreciable. DSP doesn’t afford to get out of his preexisting style and yet Kamal Haasan’s brand establishes a different look over the album.

1. Dhagudu Dhattham

Vocals: Kamal Haasan

Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

Kamal’s style of rendition is same as in his yesteryear album ‘Vasool Raja MBBS’ for the song ‘Love Pannada’. The lyrical lines by Kamal Haasan are funny yet realistic. Sounds like the title song and can we expect Kamal Haasan shaking legs after a long time. Lines like – Rich man pay Crores of contribution to God and bargain for vegetables. It’s sure to be a chartbuster for this season. Devi Sri Prasad’s usual tactics of beats and instrumentals are good.

2. Who’s The Hero

Vocals: Andrea Jeremiah

Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

The western type song has some loud music and it focalizes on the character of the protagonist. Andrea Jeremiah is good at her lyrics and it may sound perfect when heard with visuals over the screens.

3. Neela Vaanam

Vocals: Kamal Haasan, Priya Himesh

Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

The best number of this album and you’ll fall in love with it over the first time of listening. After a very long time, we hear a fantastic duet from Kamal Haasan as he had no space for such numbers after ‘Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu’ that was released before 5 years. Again, it’s Kamal Haasan’s lyrics are excellent and his vocalism is flawless. Devi Sri Prasad has exerted all his efforts for this number. It’s sure to be the anthem of every couple across the towns.

4. Oyyale

Vocals: Mukesh, Suchitra & Karthik Kumar

Lyrics: Vivega

An usual folk type song set in backdrops of shooting spots. The song takes off with DSP rendering – Light, Action, Camera. The song has usual composition and there’s nothing special about it. The duet song is pictured on Trisha as she plays the role of an actress. Vivega’s lyrics aren’t so exceptional.

5. Kamal Kavidhai

Vocals: Kamal Haasan & Trisha

Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

It’s a full-fledged rendition of poetic dialogues between Kamal Haasan and Trisha… Wow! Mind-boggling creativity of Kamal Haasan expressed through his lyrics. It’s a hilarious take on many aspects of women’s pursuit of her groom. There is some inclusion of real issues as well. Devi Sri Prasad’s accompaniment of instrumentals are captivating. However the younger generation may experience more off ‘alien’ stuff if they aren’t well versed with Tamil.

6. Theme of Manmadhan Ambu

With a penchant taste of showcasing a different show, Devi Sri Prasad comes up with a different combination of instrumentals and beats. The track commences with a sad-fangled violin followed by the peppy beat that are used for hero introduction usually in all songs. The symphonic orchestras are added values to this song.

7. Manmadhan Ambu

Vocals: Devi Sri Prasad

Lyrics: Kamal Haasan

Devi Sri Prasad doesn’t want to give something new. It looks like he is severely stuck to the prototyped genres of music. This song sounds much similar as his previous compositions as the gimmicks are very much present. Kamal Haasan’s lyrics doesn’t help for the song. Maybe the visuals should have a different picture

‘Manmadhan Ambu’ has a mix of best and mediocre numbers. On the dot, it’s a complete show by Kamal Haasan as his lyrics and vocalisms dominate a lot over DSP’s passable music. ‘Neela Vaanam’ is the only outstanding number while ‘Dhagudu Dhattham’ is a mass number for the frontbenchers.

Verdict: One and only Kamal Haasan
