The most acclaimed cinematographer-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan is starting his new project ‘URUMI’ based on Vasco Da Gama’s death still remains as a mystery.

His every showpiece has been unparalleled as it goes completely ne plus ultra with unique scripts. Gaining international recognitions for his stunning works, the cinematographer-filmmaker recently made it bigger with his visual treat in Manirathnam’s ‘Raavanan’.

Santhosh has now completed his preproduction works on his upcoming film ‘URUMI’ that is set in backdrops of ancient India back in 15th century. Everyone knows about Vasco Da Gama’s exploration of his new route to Calicut. But Santhosh Sivan will take us a for different journey behind Vasco Da Gama’s true colors, his cruel acts upon the innocuous Indians and groups of men trying to assassinate him.

Soon after the announcement of this project, there were buzzes that it will be more off fiction to which Santhosh replies, “Maybe, few portions will have some fictional attributes while majority of them is a reality…”

The film features Prithviraj as the leader of those groups hatching plans to kill Vasco Da Gama while Genelia D’ Souza plays the role of Portugal princess.
