Vijay Sethupathi’s AK is not for awards and film festivals

Filmmaker Manikandan of Kaaka Muttai fame says that his upcoming film ‘Aandavan Kattalai’ starring Vijay Sethupathi and Ritika Singh in lead roles is not for awards.

Winning National awards for his maiden debut ‘Kaaka Muttai’, director Manikandan managed to complete couple of movies in a short span of time titled ‘Kuttrame Thandanai’ and ‘Aandavan Kattalai’. The former film starring Viddarth an Aishwarya Rajesh in lead roles has garnered good response for the theatrical trailer, especially for the background score of Ilayaraja. While this film would be screened at some of the International and National Film Festivals, it was urging to ask Manikandan, if he would be screening his other film ‘Aandavan Kattalai’ at festivals. “Not definitely! The film has a different dimension of commercial values and is based on a serious issues of fake passports narrated in a humorous style. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Ritika Singh as characters who desperately want to go abroad even at the cost of fake passports,” says Manikandan, who furthermore adds that the film is on the post-production phase.
