Quite a mix of emotions is happening out here in the industry as many are disappointed over Chiyaan Vikram not getting National awards for his spellbinding performance in ‘I’. To a surprise, National Award winner Vetrimaaran has managed to gain third time National Awards for his ‘Visaranai’ – Best Regional Film and Samuthirakani on Best Supporting Actor Male followed by Late Editor Kishore Te for the same film on Editing. Maestro Ilayaraja has swept the Best Background Original Score in ‘Thaara Thappattai’ for not using any modern instruments, but utilizing the original native ones. Ritika Singh has bagged Special Mention Award for her ne plus ultra performance in Irudhi Suttru.
