On this special occasion of Women's Day, everyone are busy wishing and creating memes for women's day. What we thought was something different, we have already told about women directors, producers and lead ladies who acted in roles empowering women's status in the society. Many actress are remembered by the movies and the roles they play in movie or the person whom they marry. But, many don't know, what their was profession before coming to silver screen. We have many actress who have entered politics after cinema. Today we thought to search for the sportswoman who entered the acting career.

Ashwini Nacappa

The sprinter who is an Arjuna Award holder, represented India in International games and won many medals and also has the credit of outrunning PT Usha. She acted in a biographical movie portraying her own story in 1991. After that she acted in 3 more Telugu movies and even gave her quit to acting. At present she is the president of Bangalore Urban district athletics association.

Neetu Chandra

Before entering the field of modelling Neetu Chandra represented India for the 1997 World Taekwondo Championship held in Hong Kong. He holds 2 Dan black belts in Taekwondo. Her acting career started at 2005 with the movie "Garam Masala" and Tamil debut was with "Yaavarum Nalam" in the year 2009. At present she plays the lead in the "Vaigai Express" and has some Hindi and Telugu movies in her kitty.

Jwala Gutta

She is known as one of the feather in the cap in Indian sports achievements. She has won many medals in the field of Badminton and her latest victory was Yonex Canada open. She was awarded with Arjuna Award on 2011. She made her acting debut in a Telugu movie "Gunde Jaari Gullanthayyinde" which had Nithin and Nithya menon in the lead roles. After this movie she continued with her Badminton career and did not sign up any movies.

Alisha Abdullah

The first and the only female racer in India. She represented India in various races and she was the first women to participate in the Volkswagen Polo cup and was placed 10th among 24 men. Her first acting debut was with the movie "Irumbu Kuthirai" which has Atharvaa Murali and Priya Anand in the lead. Currently along side races she continues acting and the next movie of her is titled "Saitan".

Ritika Singh

Hot cake of the K'town recently and who has stolen many hearts in the recent times was Ritika Singh. Professionally a boxer, she has represented India in many tournaments. Her debut was the 2016 movie "Iruthi Suttru" were she played the role of the aspiring boxer. The credit also goes the director who is also a lady "Sudha Kongara". The movie did very well at the box office and rumors spill around that Ritika has signed her next movie in Tamil.

Though many sports women who has excelled in various fields and have made India and its people proud we have mentioned a few who has also excelled in their acting skills.
