Road thrillers have been a sort of rarity in the Tamil film industry and before years, it was Paiyya touched a similar lane laced with romance, action and thriller elements… Vijay Milton’s 10 Endrathukulla starring Vikram and Samantha in lead roles is one such film that gets through the same panache. D Imman has composed music for this film, which is produced by Fox Star Studios in collaboration with AR Murugadoss Productions.

Vikram has been regarded as the best chauffeur in town and everyone seeks him to perform the Mission Impossible tasks. He is a man without identity and any names. His life takes a turn when he comes across a beautiful girl (Samantha). On an unexpected turn, he is assigned by a bunch of hooligans to commute Samantha to a place in Uttarkand. Apparently, few strangers down here at this alien land are waiting for her arrival for some strange reasons.

It’s been a long time we saw Vikram in a commercial avatar and he has done something more gratifying for his fans. He has tried something more to enthrall with action sequences, which is quite middling in few places. Samantha has gained a role something to exhibit her prowess in performance on pars with Vikram. Especially, her portions during the penultimate sequences to climax are convincing. Abhimanyu Singh is seen as a baddie throughout the film, but gets a twist, where his role is dulled during the final moments. So happens to be situation of Rahul Dev, who is seen with some prominence but his role gets gradually diminished by the end of show. Munish Kanth tries to evoke laughter, but only to a certain extent.

Two things instantly grab our attention in 10 Endrathukulla – Cinematography and Editing. Sreekar Prasad offers an intense transition between the shots and in fact tries to enhance the screenplay with some momentum. The cinematography with some exceptionally brilliant angles is worthy of appreciations. Director holds importance for showcasing the native culture of North Indian territories. Although, it might not seem to be an important part of the film, it keeps us adhered in places. The basic problem with 10 Endrathukulla is the sluggish moments in the first half, where we are seen with unwanted portions, although few instances might be seen engrossing. Even few portions in the second half could have been trimmed. If the running length was trimmed by 30 minutes, it would have been a racy thriller. The song featuring Charmi and some action sequences aren’t actually necessary for the movie. In fact, the film has few traces of Bharath’s Aindhu Aindhu Aindhu….

What works?

1. Vikram
2. Cinematography, BGM and Editing

What doesn’t work?

1. Lengthy screenplay
2. Songs

10 Endrathukulla is evidently a treat for commercial movie lovers and Vikram fans, who constantly yearned to see him appear in such a film.

Verdict : Wanna grab a commercial treat… Go ahead

Rating : 4.5/10
