There is something special about this ‘Vaalu’ just as STR has tweeted on his micro-blogging page. Much more than watching the movie, they galore in crowds with excitements to catch up their matinee-idol on the screens after a long time of 3 years. Vijay Chander makes his debut directorial with this film produced by Nic Arts with Hansika Motwani playing the female lead.
Simbhu is seen as a happy-go-lucky youngster who aimlessly roams all the time with his friends – Santhanam and VTV Ganesh. He falls in love with Hansika Motwani at first sight and after some times she reveals that she is getting married with her cousin boy, who happens to be a powerful loan shark in the city. Rest of the story is about how STR and his friends cook up the best stories and dramas to win her heart.
Obviously, you prepare yourself with a perfect mindset and clear assumptions of how this movie is going to be. It’s a tailor made movie for STR fans and director Vijay Chander has crafted the film with ingredients that will surely impress the young superstar fans. But when it comes to other bunch of audiences, this might not really impress them. Especially for the first 15 minutes of this movie, there isn’t anything audible except the whistles and howling applause of Simbhu fans. But he has entertained his fans without any pause with his dancing, acting and usual style. In fact, his gesture of adoring Thala Ajith Kumar is an additional highlight as well. The witty lines by Santhanam and Thaman’s songs are the cherry picks of this film. The background score by Thaman is slightly disappointing as he seems to have borrowed it from many of his films and few from famous movies like Rajnikanth’s Mannan. Cinematography and Editing have been done in such a way to elevate the heroism standards.
Silambarasan has completely done everything that caters the tastes of his fans. Be his punch dialogues, stylish walk, his sweet and cute expressions, they instantly grab our attention, evenif you are not a STR fan. Hansika Motwani looks bubbly as in her previous movies, but her performance desperately needs to be improved. She has the same old expressions that might get us bored by the initial stages of her appearance. Santhanam stands strong and supportive throughout the film with his hilarious lines and acting and VTV Ganesh does his best as well. Newcomer Aditya deserves a warm welcome. The very first scene of his appearance has some impressive touch. His dialogue delivery and body language are the biggest plus and he is sure to gain big offers in the industry. The climax sequence involving the conversations with STR and Aditya are somewhat surprising.
1. STR, Santhanam and VTV Ganesh
What doesn’t work?
1. Timeworn story
2. Predictable screenplay with little surprises.
The film is completely packaged with entertainment that will keep STR fan engrossed and while for others, they can go with it if they have no other flicks to watch out for.
Verdict : Great fiesta for STR fans
Rating : 4/10
