SP Jananathan delivers his film in a span of long gap, but his movies always make a silent entry into the theatres followed by storming success. His ‘Iyarkai’ witnessed decent reviews in spite of big tickets like ‘Pithamagan’, ‘Thirumalai’ and ‘Anchaaneya’ releasing on the same day. His other films like ‘Ee’ and ‘Peranmai’ were decorous flicks. He comes up with his next film ‘Purampokku’ that again deals with a social issue. The film has a fantastic star-cast of Arya, Vijay Sethupathi, Shaam and Karthika Nair in lead roles. The teaser of Purampokku was initially released with ‘Anjaan’, but was removed after couple of days. Now, the makers have found the right time to get it publicised during the festive occasion of Diwali. The 90-sec teaser opens with the introduction of four characters – Arya, Shaam, Vijay Sethupathi and Karthika Nair. The music in the backdrops by Varshan is quite unconventional with pianos, a female vocal and strings with orchestral hits. The picturing across the snowy regions of Kulu Manali gives a fantastic panoramic view. The teaser shows Shaam and Vijay Sethupathi for not more than a second, but encompasses on Arya and Karthika on the run across the snow-blocked paths through different means of commutation. Finally, a bunch of army arrives to bump them off and we hear the gun shots in the backdrops. Although, the teaser is visually impressive, we aren’t conveyed with the exact theme of Purampokku. Maybe, the full length theatrical trailer should give a much clear view.

Verdict: Visually cool, but overall average
