A winner in showbiz is a dream of status for many aspiring actors. Every Friday has its own child born, but very few had a successful journey, which comes in a package of speculative elements. His fame is spread across the global maps with just a song going viral and his realms in Bollywood established with a single film. A JOURNEY THAT STARTED WITH HUMILIATIONS

‘No Pain... No Diamond’ and Dhanush stands as an epitome of proving it all with his ambitious journey. When he made his debut as an actor in 2002 with ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’, he was just 18 years old. If you’re aware or still remember the first phase of reviews he had faced, anyone would have been broken down. Both the audience and film critics were making ridicule on his puny looks. The film was written by his elder brother Selvaraghavan and directed by his father Kasthuri Raja. But nothing shattered his hopes and he kept working hard on this film. Somehow, he became the favourite of many teenagers with this film irrespective of mixed reviews that the film had gained.

STRIKING STARDOM WITH ‘PSYCHO’ ACT

Somewhere, the fluke favoured me.... A stark statement that many buzzed on and on with accordance to the success of Thulluvadho Ilamai, but their assumptions were shattered when he threw an abrupt lump on throat performance as a psychotic chap in Kadhal Kondein. He became the favourite child of box office and indeed was acclaimed for creating a new trend where offbeat meets commercial cinema.

A LEAP INTO COMMERCIAL BLOCKBUSTER ZONE

Just as he was about to be declared as an offbeat hero with unconventional roles, he made a sweepstake in commercial zone with ‘Thiruda Thirudi’. The film was a tremendous blockbuster hit crossing 150 days in many theatres across Tamil Nadu.

TRIPPING UP WITH MEDIOCRES

As Dhanush completed his hat-trick spell, the actor had to come across some of the stumbling series of movies – Pudhukottaiyil Irundhu Saravanan, Sullaan and Dreams. His career graph slightly rose back to normalcy with Devathayai Kanden.

A CLASSIC ICING OF THE CAKE

A film with Balu Mahendra is a dream for every actor in the film industry and Dhanush was the chosen child of Balu Mahendra. The film ‘Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam’ didn’t perform well in box office, but his performance was highly acclaimed.

THE CREATION OF A NEW HISTORY

While he was much loved for his next-to-boy door roles, Dhanush surprisingly attempted something unusual and challenging. ‘Kumaaru.... Kokki Kumaaru’ – the dialogue was more than enough to pull the crowd and the magnetising drama of Pudhupettai proved to be a tremendous showpiece in his career.

EMERGENCE OF INDIAN BRUCE LEE

Grabbing the title from Superstar Rajnkanth’s yesteryear blockbuster movie ‘Polladhavan’, this film surpassed with excellent reviews for the outstanding performance of Dhanush and his six-pack surprise during the climax fight sequence created a huge fever among the town... He was instantly ennobled as the ‘Indian Bruce Lee’ for his looks.

ONE MORE BLOCKBUSTER FEATHER

His next abrupt release marked his comeback as a commercial entertainer with ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, which was a box office hit. The film marked a special importance to family relationships and an emotional bonding with father.

THE YOUNGEST NATIONAL AWARD WINNING ACTOR

Following ‘Polladhavan’, Dhanush and Vetrimaaran teamed up together again and the result was something that no one expected. Dhanush became the ever youngest actor in Indian cinema to win a National award. The film grossed with good collections in box office and indeed fetched critical acclaims that include Six National Awards.

CREATING THE ‘KOLAVERI’ VIRAL FEVER

It was just a song with simple lyrics, but it became an overnight success and Dhanush was a musical superstar within a short span of time. ‘Why this Kolaveri Di?’ made a brilliant showcase over online and became a stupendous hit. Dhanush launched his own production house with the film ‘3’ and continuously churned out more hits like ‘Ethir Neechal’…. Dhanush broke the image barrier of Superstar Rajnikanth’s son-in-law and created his own identity.

THE CAPTURE OF BOLLYWOOD ZONE

His debut film ‘Raanjhanaa’ made a whopping collection in box office and his
perfect slang of Hindi made him so much popular in the industry. He has now almost completed working on his next Hindi film that stars Amitabh Bachchan in other lead role.
