Sci-fi and fantasy movies are a rarity in Tamil film industry and this is one good reason why we highly look upon Hollywood movies. In spite of attempting with such genres, nothing has been so commendable or a magnum opus. Now with ‘Appuchi Gramam’, it looks like Tamil cinema will get to the next level. The film is produced by Canada based NRIs – Vishnu Murali and Senthil Kumar under the banner of I Gate Multimedia. V Anand, a former associate of AR Murugadoss makes his debut directorial with this film with newcomers Praveen Kumar and Anusha playing the lead roles… Nasser, Kitty, Jo Malloori, Ganja Karuppu, Singam Puli and few others are performing important characters. Vishal, an ardent protégé of AR Rahman is scoring music to this film.

Shedding light on this film, director V Anand says, “The film is set in against the backdrops of a fictional village in Tamil Nadu that is soon to get victimised by asteroids’ attack from universe. The villagers are illiterate and their unawareness becomes an intriguing element in this flick. Since this is a Sci-fi flick, we have included a lot of exciting elements in terms of narration and technical aspects. This will be completely engaging for universal audiences from children and old ones .”

The behavioural symptoms of these villagers in the film become the major element and the entire film has been shot across the locales of Pollachi. In spite of the film set in backdrops of science fiction, the dialogues will be simple. Tamil audiences have always appreciated new-fangled concepts with good themes and the entire crew is sure as shooting stars with Appuchi Gramam as well.
