Pre-production phase is considered to be the intriguing part of any filmmaking process. But Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film ‘Mellisai’ seems to be an exception. Debutant filmmaker Ranjith still wonders on how the project kick-started. In his recent interview for a leading newspaper, he said that when Vijay Sethupathi heard the script, he was so much enthralled and earnestly wanted to do this film, but couldn’t make it immediately due to his prior commitments. In fact, he had asked the director to wait nearly for a year to start up this new project. “But after two months, Vijay Sethupathi called me and said that one of his projects is getting delayed and I am able to start off with the shooting shortly. In fact, the pre-production works weren’t halfway though, but the confident gesture of cinematographer and music director helped me to get-go for it,” says Ranjith as he ennobles such an incident to be a miracle when he turns and look back on how it all started. 80% of the shooting is already completed and will be hitting screens in July. Gayathri plays the female lead role of a violin teacher while Sam is a music director.
