Sanjay Gupta's Shootout at Wadala has gained everyone's attention patently for its depiction on the rise of underworld mafia network based on S Hussain Zaidi's book 'Dongri to Dubai'. However, certain legal issues have popped up that has prompted the makers go for few modifications in the film. The film has John Abraham playing the role of a villainous gangster named Manya Surve and his conflicts with Dawood Ibrahim (played by Sonu Sood) and also revolves around other reigning underworld kingpins like , Haji Mastan, Sabir and many other characters like ACP Isaque Bagwan (Anil Kapoor).

The issue sprouted up when retired ACP Isaque Bagwan, person behind the encouter of Surve in 1982. According to his statement, it reads that Surve was just a small time crook and isn't someone like a topgun as shown in this film. By making such depictions, it would pave way for more issues like gang wars across the streets.

And now, Sanjay Gupta has decided to make modifications by changing the name of characters like Dawood Ibrahim, Surve, Haji Mastan and others in the film. There will be reshoot of some close-up shots and change in lines of dubbing.
