Udhayanidhi’s appeal and Seenu Ramasamy’s denial Director Seenu Ramasamy, during the audio launch of Neer Paravai, recalled an incident which happened during the release of Then Merkku Paruvakkattru.

Speaking about this incident, the director said that when he wanted to release TMP, producer Udhayanidhi Stalin appealed to release the film a few weeks later as his magnum opus, Manmadhan Ambu, starring Kamal Haasan was also due to be released at that time.

However, Seenu Ramasamy did not pay heed to the producers’ words as he had to go ahead with the release as planned. And the rest, we know, is history. Yes, TMP moved out of the theatres without a trace but went on to win a few National Awards.

At that time, the director was furious with the producer and had lashed out at him in a press conference for spoiling the prospects of his film. But Udhayanidhi Stalin, keeping in mind the brilliance and talent of Seenu Ramasamy, signed him to direct Neer Paravai for his production house Red Giant Movies.
