Ine and Aascar Collaborate for Tamil Nadu Theatrical Distribution of Billa 2

IN Entertainment (INE), part of the Hinduja Group, which is presenting & producing AJITH KUMAR’s BILLA2, has confirmed that the Tamil Nadu Theatrical Distribution Rights have been sold to AASCAR Ravichandran

BILLA2, currently in post production, is being readied for a Wide Summer Release

All Distribution Rights of the Film, excepting Kerala and Hindi Dubbing Rights, have been sold at record breaking prices garnering Revenues exceeding Rs 40 Crore

This makes BILLA2 Ajith’s highest revenue generator and puts BILLA2 as one of the top PRE SALES Revenue Generating Films of all time in the Tamil Film Industry

IN Entertainment (India) Limited, the presenter and producer of BILLA2 along with Wide Angle Creations, has confirmed that they have entered into a sale agreement with AASCAR Film for theatrical distribution rights of Tamil Nadu. Deal Value is upwards of Rs 26 Crores with AASCAR spending on analogue and digital prints.

Sunir Kheterpal, CEO – IN Entertainment, says, “There was a huge interest amongst potential buyers for the Tamil Nadu Theatrical Rights of BILLA2. After having extensive discussions with several parties over the past four weeks, we decided to collaborate with AASCAR based on their commitment on marketing spends and an ability to give the Film a hassle free wide distribution release in Tamil Nadu. We are currently working on the plans for May and shall soon make announcements on certain important dates to watch out for.”

Confirming his association with the Film, AASCAR Ravichandran said, “BILLA2 is a hugely anticipated summer release this year and we are very happy to associate with INE for release of the Film in Tamil Nadu. It is an Ajith starrer, part of the hugely popular BILLA franchise and the first Big Film to hit screens post IPL this year. We are very excited about this association and are working towards giving the Film tremendous publicity, marketing and promotional push in May.”

BILLA2 has been shot over 103 days across Hyderabad, Vizag, Goa, Mumbai, Kashid and Gerogia. The producers have left no stone unturned in ensuring that the Film got all the Crew support it required to accomplish the vision behind the final product. Jaika Stunts out of Thailand was roped in for specialist hand to hand stunts while Action Concept, the Germany specialist company in the field of Stunts and Action was roped in for Georgia based action scenes. Action Concept provided the Stunt Direction team for Shah Rukh Khan starrer, DON 2. BILLA2 is costliest Ajith Film ever made. The Film, currently in post production, is being readied for a Wide Summer Release targeting simultaneous release in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala along with North India and International markets. Music for the Film is slated to hit stores across Tamil Nadu on May 1, which is Ajith’s birthday.

The Film will release as “DAVID BILLA – The Beginning” in Andhra Pradesh as a Telugu Dubbed Version, as Tamil Original Language version in Kerala and both as Tamil and Telugu Dubbed versions in Karnataka. International Release and North India release shall be on English Subtitled prints in order to generate wider audiences and a larger exposure to Tamil Films. Andhra Pradesh Rights are with SVR Media, Karnataka with Leader Films (who also distributed Mankatha), Music with SONY Music, Satellite TV with SUN TV and Overseas with US Based GK Media. Distribution for Kerala and North India shall be tied up within this month by which time the Producer would have generated a PRE SALES revenue exceeding Rs 40 Crores from the Film. All territories have been sold at record prices for any Ajith film till date. Overall revenue from the Film is higher by 35% as compared to the previous Film with certain territories outside of Tamil Nadu going for as much as 80% increase thus increasing the share of revenue from outside of home State while highlighting the sales and exploitation strategy.

The Publicity Designs and Posters released so far have helped create tremendous intrigue and excitement around the Film. This along with the fact that it is an Ajith Kumar Film and belonging to a super successful and popular BILLA franchise helped generate more than a million hits for the one minute long teaser of the Film within 7 days of its release on YOUTUBE. BILLA2 now holds the record for a Teaser to reach one million hits on YOUTUBE for any South Language Film. This highlights the immense craze, following and support that fans of Ajith Kumar bring forth on anything to do with him on the social networking sites.
