Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s film has an unique specialty. His fans are always excited about the release of his album much more than the theatrical release. The reason is that his songs are always a big feast for his fans both in melodic and peppy folk style. ‘Velayudham’ has the latter category of songs dominating with just couple of melodies included in it. We bring you the exclusive music review of ‘Velayudham’ album that has 6 tracks.

1. Rathathin Rathame

Singers: Haricharan, Madhumitha

Lyrics: Annamalai

A song tailored for Vijay fans as the actor conveys his thanks and message to the masses. Usually, such a song of Vijay would have loud sounds with trumpets, horns and orchestras pumping on. But this one is off a difference. The beats are mild and even the singers have a control over their intonations. This is gonna be a sure hit amongst the masses. The ending note on fortepianos with humming is a good work.

2. Molachu Moonu

Vocals: Prasanna, Supriya Joshi

Lyrics: Vivega

A journey back to Vijay’s yesteryear albums that had some best melodic treats.... Vijay Anthony has done a fabulous job over this song choosing best singers, who have rendered the song in a pleasant style. Vivega’s lyrical lines are one of the greatest highlights.

3. Sonna Puriyathu

Vocals: Vijay Anthony, Veera Shankar

Lyrics: Siva Shanmugham

The song starts off with an ambience of village festival as a prologue that is rendered by Veera Shankar. We have a sudden transition into folk beat style with distorted guitars in rhythm and percussions as Vijay Anthony takes over the track. Siva Shanmugham has penned lyrics suiting to the image of Vijay. Perhaps, we can expect a great dance from Vijay.

4. Maayam Seidhaano

Vocals: Sangeetha Rajeshwaran

Lyrics: Vivega

The song is done in an old-style pattern and even Sangeetha croons it in a same way. The song will gain its popularity as the time advances and with good visuals. The chorus and fill-ins by Vijay Anthony is appreciable.

5. Chillax

Vocals: Karthik, Charulatha Mani

This song is going to rock to the core and it’s gonna be a special fiesta for Ilayathalapathy fans. The fast-paced track and usually it’s Vijay Anthony, who renders such songs. But Vijay Anthony makes a different movie roping Karthik into the track. The beats and guitars on accompaniment makes the song more appealing. Charulatha Mani on her part gives an exact feeling. The song in few places reminiscences of ‘En Uchi Mandaila’ from Vettaikaaran.

6. Vela....Velayudham

Vocals: Vijay Anthony, Mark

It’s a signature song that has already become famous ever since the trailer was launched. Vijay Anthony makes an impressive performance and English rap lines by Mark is captivating.

On the whole, ‘Velayudham’ album has some interesting numbers that will surely cater to the tastes of Ilayathalapathy fans.

Verdict: Exclusively for Vijay fans
