Having proved his adeptness in style with some albums in Telugu film industry, music director Thamman had very few hits to boast off in Kollywood. Well with ‘Vandhan Vendran’, he is back in style as three tracks from album will woo you down to the core.

1. Anjana

Vocals: Aalap Raju

Lyrics: Yugabharathy

The word ‘Anjana’ is very famous with Harris Jayaraj’s composition of ‘Hasili Fisili’ in Aadhavan. But the similarity between two songs end here as Thamman goes for an unique-fangled music with this song that slightly reminiscences of A.R. Rahman’s ‘Hosanna’ and so is the choreography as well. It’s a killer song and is sure to rule the markets.

2. Kanchana Mala

Vocals: Karthik, Priya Himesh

Lyrics: Thamarai

Kanchana Mela is completely different from the previous number and it’s a kind of Classical-Western mix. Moreover, the addition of Karthik and Priya Himesh stands out as the best highlighting factor here. Much alike the previous number, this one too arrests our senses for the first time we hear it.

3. Anjo

Vocals: Devan

Lyrics: Madhan Karky

A peppy number with the complete western style taking over the control and you’ve lots of distorted guitars, live drums and acoustic guitars. Thamman tries bringing in the touch of his mentor A.R. Rahman. It’s an introduction for the angelic girl on the screens.

4. Mudivilla Mazhaiyodu

Vocals: Hariharan

Lyrics: Madhan Karky

The song’s interlude done in symphonic style has resemblances of a musical track ‘Music of Joy’- 7G Rainbow Colony and ‘Veerapandi Kotaiyile’ from Thiruda Thiruda. Madhan Karky far-famed for his innovative usage of words and this one isn’t an exception. Need a little info about the song? It isn’t the usual introduction of hero, but occurs during the crucial part of the film that will have Jeeva, Santhanam and Nandha.

5. Thirandhen Thirandhen

Vocals: Aalaap Raju, Shreya Ghosal

Lyrics: Madhan Karky

The song boasts of a stunning sound mixing and orchestration by Thamman is appreciable. Aalaap Raju awes us with his soothing vocalism and his collaboration with Shreya Ghosal is awesome. The song will gain its popularity as the time advances.

6. Nagarudhe Nagarudhe

Vocals: Thamman

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Thamman brings back the memories ‘Thaniye Thaniye’ from Eeram. It’s a situational song and has some catchy and attention grabbing lyrics by Na. Muthukumar. Thamman takes on the song with excellence and perhaps Karthik as the other option would have been finer.

On the whole, ‘Vandhaan Vendraan’ has rocking songs that are sure to haunt the towns for next few days. The visual treat by P.G. Muthaiah and creative visuals by Kannan will add more intensity to the songs.

Verdict: Strongly recommended. Buy a Copy...
